This is so tedious.
Sorry I keep going on about this stuff, but its almost as if, if I write it down, I feel like i'm tackling it slightly better. I know i'm pretty much on track to finish by the end of the week, but it just drags on so much it feels like it will never end.
Especially when i'm coding this girl who waves her hands around on every other word.
In other news:
I have a new project. It can be found at
slayer_files.
Here is the first entry, which serves as an explanation -
Recently I have been reading Dusted - the (latest) unofficial guide to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Now, while this is not a bad book, and serves its purpose, such as it is (an extended episode guide) it was not what I was hoping for. Now that the series has finished, episodes can be looked at with the big picture in mind, threads can be drawn together, links can be made. I was hoping for a detailed analysis of each episode, and I didn't get one, just a brief overview.
I didn't get what I wanted. So I decided to do it myself.
Over the next few months or perhaps years i'm going to watch each of the episodes in turn, and write a review of each one. This will give my thoughts on how the episode fits into the mythology of Buffy, its high points and low points and whether or not it's actually any good. I will attempt to pick up on hints left in early episodes which highlight issues in later ones. I will try and gain insight into the characters, thier motivations and psychological issues. What I will not be doing is talking in detail about the specifics of plot in each episode (unless it is important to the point i'm trying to make). I'm sure anyone interested enough to read this has already seen all the episodes in question, and if not, well there's a plethora of internet episode guides out there, as well as books like Dusted.
I'm hoping to make the first post in the next few days.
